BRINNON — Military operations in Dabob Bay and parts of the Hood Canal pose no significant environmental impacts, a recently released Navy report concluds.
The Navy issued an environmental assessment report last month looking at operations in the area where numerous in-water testing measures are conducted, including torpedo testing.
No environmental impact statement needs to be completed for operations being conducted in the area, said the report summary completed by Iona Evans, director of environmental protection/occupational safety and health at Naval Sea Systems Command.
Dabob Bay is the principal range for the in-water testing of torpedoes, though no testing of explosive warheads occurs there or in the Hood Canal area, the report said.
