PORT ANGELES — Former community development director Brad Collins is returning to Port Angeles City Hall — as a City Council member.
The City Council tonight voted unanimously to appoint Collins from a field of seven applicants to the vacancy created when the newly elected Larry Little resigned just two days after taking the oath of office.
Collins, 61, who retired as community development director in 2005, is a deputy director of Serenity House of Clallam County.
He was defeated by incumbent John Calhoun in a Port of Port Angeles commissioner in November by just 22 votes.
His term will run for two years, after which he will face election — if he chooses — in fall 2011 to complete the second two years of the council position.
