A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Air Station/Sector Field Office Port Angeles rescued a 13-year-old boy Saturday from the waters south of Camano Island after a boat overturned, killing one man.
The boy and four adults were on an 18-foot boat that capsized after two waves swamped it at about 7:15 a.m., the Coast Guard said.
The Coast Guard confirmed later that one man died.
A rescue swimmer from Air Station/Sector Field Office Port Angeles recovered the boy from underneath the boat.
The boy was hoisted into the helicopter and flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The deceased man was transported to the Tulalip Marina, where local emergency medical teams pronounced him dead.
The other adults were recovered by other boaters, who treated them for hypothermia.
No identifications of the people in the boat were available from the Coast Guard.
Crews on a 45-foot Coast Guard response boat from Seattle and on boats from the Tulalip Fire Department, the Everett Police Department and state Fish & Wildlife also assisted.
