Citizens from Ireland and India were among the five people arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents for alleged Border Patrol violations in the agency’s Blaine Sector from Jan. 9-16, according to the agency’s weekly blotter of apprehensions.
The Blaine Sector covers Alaska, Oregon and the western half of Washington, but the sector’s more than 300 agents have their main office in Blaine.
There were 36 agents stationed in Port Angeles, which covers Clallam and Jefferson counties, as of mid-September.
The blotter is not a complete report of all arrests.
It includes only arrests selected by the Border Patrol, which does not release any further information about the apprehensions, including the genders of those arrested.
Here are the reports of unidentified people who were detained and processed for removal from the U.S.:
■ Jan. 10: Operators of the Border Patrol’s video-surveillance system observed two Indian nationals illegally cross into the U.S. from Canada east of Lynden.
Nearby Border Patrol agents arrested them.
■ Jan. 10: Border Patrol agents arrested a citizen of Guatemala who was scheduled for release from the Whatcom County Detention Center in Bellingham.
Agents had previously placed a detainer on the person, whom they knew was illegally in the U.S.
■ Jan. 13: A request for assistance from the Blaine Police Department during a traffic stop in Blaine resulted in the driver of the vehicle being arrested.
The driver was a Canadian citizen with an expired Canadian passport and allegedly admitted to having lived in the U.S. continuously since 2008.
■ Jan. 16: Border Patrol agents arrested a citizen of Ireland who had just entered the U.S. by crossing the border west of Sumas.
