BLYN – The Jamestown S’Klallam tribe’s 7 Cedars Casino could almost double its number of electronic slot machines if a new gaming compact with the state is approved.
The casino currently houses nearly 300 machines, and would look at adding 200 to 250 more once the proposal is agreed on, said W. Ron Allen, Jamestown S’Klallam tribal chairman and president of the Washington Indian Gaming Association.
“We are looking at expanding the casino into the bingo side and moving bingo to a new facility on same property,” Allen said.
“We are looking at the addition of 200 to 250 machines. It just depends on how things go.”
The additional machines, which require approval from Gov. Chris Gregoire and the federal government, would be part of proposed gambling compacts between 27 tribes in the state and the Washington State Gambling Commission.
Each tribe must approve the agreement – an action that the Jamestown S’Klallam have already taken.
“I’ve kept them informed about where we were from the beginning, and the [tribal] council has been very supportive,” Allen said.
