BEAVER — A pickup truck driver was sent to Forks Community Hospital with apparently minor injuries after an icy wreck early Thursday morning, according to fire officials.
The name of the driver was not available from fire district officials, who cited privacy concerns. The State Patrol did not release a report on the wreck.
Near Bear Creek
The one-vehicle rollover wreck at U.S. Highway 101 near Bear Creek, just east of Beaver, happened at about 6:45 a.m. Thursday as frost formed on roads.
The red Toyota slid off the road and rolled on its side, said Wes Rombert, Beaver fire chief of Clallam County Fire District No. 1.
“There was black ice,” Rombert said.
He said the driver was the only person in the pickup and was able to get out of the truck with the help of a passer-by.
Similar wrecks due to ice and other slick conditions are common at this time of year, Rombert said.
