PORT ANGELES — The ms Ryndam, likely to be the largest passenger ship to visit the harbor this year, will pull up to the Port of Port Angeles’ Terminal 1 pier Thursday morning about 7:15.
The Holland America Line Inc. cruise ship out of Vancouver, British Columbia, is stopping at Port Angeles as part of a five-day cruise that also will include stops in Seattle and Victoria.
Passengers will disembark at about 7:45 a.m. and begin boarding buses to bring them to four downtown drop-off points — marked with hot pink signs — at about 8:15 a.m.
The passengers should be returning to the ship by 4 p.m., and the Ryndam is due to depart at 5 p.m.
As passengers leave the ship, red-coated chamber ambassadors will present passengers with “goody bags’ that will include walking tour information, a coupon book from downtown merchants, and other tourist information, said Louann Yeager, member services director for the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce.
Security gates at pier
No one from the shore will be allowed past security gates at the pier area without prior clearance through the Chamber of Commerce.
Holland America is arranging for two Gray Line Tours buses from Seattle to take passengers to Hurricane Ridge and on a tour of the Olympic Cellars, Camaraderie and Black Diamond wineries, Yeager said.
For other passengers, Clallam Transit System buses will drop off them off at the Dyar Memorial Fountain at First and Laurel streets, and on Railroad Avenue near Laurel, Yeager said.
Welcome signs were already appearing on doors and windows of downtown businesses Tuesday afternoon in anticipation of the ship’s visit.
