North Olympic Peninsula student concerts for the fall and winter season have been scheduled, showcasing hundreds of young musicians performing with voice and instrument.
All concerts are free to the public. Donations are accepted to help support music programs in the schools.
Refreshments are available for purchase at many but not all concerts.
Student talents range from beginners at the elementary school levels to aspiring professional musicians in high school bands, choirs and string orchestras in selective high school groups.
Fall concerts begin today in Port Angeles and Oct. 28 in Sequim, with classical and modern arrangements to open the new school year.
The Port Angeles High School wind ensemble and Sequim High School choir will also perform traditional patriotic music Nov. 11 at the Veterans Day ceremonies at Coast Guard Air Station/Sector Field Office Port Angeles.
The biggest student concert of the year is the Port Angeles High School Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 in the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center, 304 E. Park Ave.
Four bands, three orchestras and four choirs, as well as a massed symphonic performance, will include traditional and modern holiday music and a sing-along.
The two-hour concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted for the music program.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early for the popular annual event showcasing student musicians.
The holiday music extravaganza typically attracts an audience of about 1,200.
The annual Port Townsend Stringfest concert features string orchestra students from Port Townsend High School, OCEAN, Blue Heron Middle School, Grant Street Elementary, the Swan School, the PI program and homeschool students.
There will be a variety of musical selections performed from classical to modern, concluding with a traditional holiday selection.
