PORT ANGELES — The Beta Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma awarded four Port Angeles School District educators Professional Development Grants.
The grants are made available to educators or paraprofessionals working for professional improvement or development of their skills in Clallam and Jefferson counties.
Those who received grants were Cheryl Gerardi, Port Angeles High School science teacher, who is working toward a National Board Certification; and Benjamin Komar, Roosevelt Elementary teacher, who is pursuing a master’s degree in teaching.
Also, Joyce Mininger, Jefferson Elementary principal, for the Science of Innovation Program; and Sabrina Scruggs, Stevens Middle School strings teacher, who is pursuing a master’s degree in music education.
The grants are funded by the Helen Gariepy Grants for School Educators.
Gariepy’s substantial bequest honors her long career as an area educator.
Funding may be for full reimbursement of funds, or for partial reimbursement of programs not paid for from any other sources, according to a news release.
