The spirit of the holiday season has begun in Clallam County.

Both downtown business districts offered longer hours, special sales and refreshments Saturday — including the arrival of Santa in Port Angeles around dusk.
Retailers who held sales Friday said business was better than it was during last year’s proverbial Black Friday and were planning to continue their pricing specials through today.
