BEAVER — Lake Pleasant Campground Water System customers should boil their water until a new source is found or a new water system is installed, Clallam County Environmental Health Director Tania Busch said.
“They are pulling surface water straight out of the lake, and that’s not allowed,” she said.
Bacterial samples collected Friday and tested Saturday indicated high levels of bacterial contamination, including E. coli, she said.
However, officials should know more about the severity and complexity of the problem today after a state engineer examines the water system, Busch said.
County and state health officials announced the boil-water advisory Sunday evening in a news release, stating that the Lake Pleasant Campground Water System was using “an unapproved source.”
Customers should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, brushing teeth, dishwashing, food preparation and ice preparation.
