JOYCE — Friends and neighbors can help Axel Yount and his band get to the World Bagpipe Championshsips in Glasgow, Scotland, this August.
Just show up at the Port Angeles High School Auditorium on Saturday, Feb. 22, for the Northwest MacGregor Pipe Band’s fund-raising concert at 7 p.m.
Residents will get a little taste of what pipe bands are all about during a two hour concert, said Jori Chisoom, the band’s head piper and an instructor.
About 20 musicians will perform, he said, including piper solos, duets and quartets. The drummers are even preparing for a fanfare.
Chisoom said many of his band’s young members aspire to play in Scotland.
“It’s a really good experience to go over to Scotland and see how it’s done over there,” he said.
Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children and seniors.
