DIAMOND POINT — A woman whose body was found Friday in a wooded area near her Diamond Point home died as the result of injuries sustained in a ground-level fall and hypothermia, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
An autopsy completed over the weekend indicated that Bevil Roening, 46, fell and died of a combination of injuries from the fall and exposure to the elements, Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. John Keegan said Monday.
“She was deceased before she was reported missing,” Keegan said.
The investigation is complete, and no additional information is being sought, he said.
The Sheriff’s Office issued a missing and endangered person alert Thursday after Roening’s family members reported her missing.
Roening had been missing since last Tuesday, and her body was found Friday during a search effort by sheriff’s deputies.
Family members who live in the area had not heard from her since last Tuesday and were concerned because she suffered from a condition that required her to take medication, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The nature of her medical condition has not been released.
Sheriff’s deputies searched her property Thursday evening and interviewed Roening’s known acquaintances before conducting a search in forested areas near her home on Friday morning.
Deputies discovered her body at about 9:30 a.m. Friday.
