PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office is following up on leads on a home-invasion robbery in Gales Addition and an attempted home invasion in Agnew that occurred within a 24-hour span last weekend.
No arrests have been made.
“We’ve gotten a ton of tips, which has been very helpful,” said Ron Cameron, chief criminal deputy for the Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities are looking for three white males in their 20s who are suspected in both cases.
“Detectives will continue to follow up on some leads,” Cameron said.
An unidentified couple in the 3000 block of Fourth Avenue in Gales Addition was robbed of jewelry, firearms and $900 in cash at about 1:30 a.m. July 7 by three men wearing disguises and hoodies.
The men were armed with handguns. They threw water on the woman’s face and demanded that the man open a safe.
The bandits drove away in what was described as a small foreign-made vehicle.
Twenty-four hours later, another homeowner took action when threatened.
A slender, dark-haired man in his early 20s knocked on the back door of a residence on the 300 block of South Barr Road.
The man, described as 5-foot-6 ad wearing a dark-blue pullover hoodie and dark baseball cap, asked to use a cellphone because he said he needed gas.
Keeping the door locked, the resident retrieved a phone and a handgun.
When the resident opened the door, a second man appeared, pointing a gun at the resident.
The homeowner quickly shut the door and fired a shot through the door.
Cameron has said it is unlikely that either of the men was hit.
The armed man was described as 6 feet tall, slender and in his early 20s. He was wearing a dark hoodie and dark-colored bandanna over his face.
A third man with clean-cut dark-colored hair drove away with the would-be bandits in a dark-colored, two-door, low-riding European car with loud exhaust pipes, Cameron said.
Cameron said the Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies have received several tips in the past week.
“Everybody is receiving them,” Cameron said.
“A lot of them might be wild rumors, but we want to check on everything.”
