PORT HADLOCK — Author Tara Austen Weaver will discuss her most recent book, Orchard House, this evening at Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave.
Published in March 2015, Orchard House is the story of rehabilitation and cultivation of land and soul, organizers say.
Through bleak winters, springs that sputter with rain and cold, golden days of summer, and autumns full of apples, pears, and pumpkins, Orchard House, an evocative memoir, recounts the Weaver family’s trials and triumphs, the obstacles overcome and the lessons learned.
Some of Weaver’s previous books include The World Is a Kitchen: Cooking Your Way Through Culture; 30 Days in the South Pacific: True Stories of Escape to Paradise; A Woman’s Asia: True Stories; and Bicycle Love: Stories of Passion, Joy, and Sweat.
A Northern California native, Weaver has lived in five countries on three continents and says she is happiest either exploring with a notebook and camera, or spending the day in a kitchen learning how people feed themselves.
Books will be available for purchase and signing after this free event.
