PORT ANGELES — Joyce Mininger has been chosen to replace Scott Harker as the assistant principal of Stevens Middle School.
Mininger’s contract will be recommended for Port Angeles School Board approval on Aug. 23, when the board will meet at 7 p.m. in the Central Services Building, 216 E. Fourth St.
Harker will move to the Sequim Middle School, where he has accepted a position as assistant principal.
Mininger has been the special education teacher in the Issaquah Skills Enhancement Program at Issaquah Middle School since 2006.
She recently completed an administrative internship at the school.
Previously, she was an inclusion special-education teacher for the New York City Lab School for Collaborative Studies, at which she used humanities curriculum to meet needs of individual students.
She also taught language arts at Skyview Middle School in St. Paul, Minn.
Mininger received principal certification from Seattle Pacific University in June.
She earned a master’s in social work from Columbia University and a master’s in education with a focus in middle school special education from Bank Street College, also located in New York.
Mininger received a bachelor’s in elementary education from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma.
