Art, dancing, free lecture offered this weekend

Entertainment is scheduled on the North Olympic Peninsula this weekend.

• First Friday Art Walk, a free, self-guided tour of local art venues in Sequim, will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. the first Friday of every month.

Among the events on today’s walk will be:

— The reception for “Let’s Explore Color,” 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Karen Kuznek-Reese Gallery at the Sequim Civic Center at 152 W. Cedar St., along with an Open Music Jam Session.

— Pacific Mist — Books, Cards & Gifts, 122 W. Washington St., hosting Sequim artist and author Mary Beth Beuke of West Coast Sea Glass.

— Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St., featuring “The Joy of Creativity” with Jean Glaser, painter of animal portraits, and mixed media sculptor Deborah Harrison.

For more information, see SequimArtWalk.com.

Contra dance, in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk, will be at 7:30 p.m. today in the Upper Room Hall at 138 W. Washington St., in Sequim.

A beginner’s dance lesson will be offered at 7 p.m.

Susan Michaels will call the dance. Music will be provided by Joey Gish and the Wriggling Fish featuring Gish on fiddle, Will Jevne on tenor banjo and David Rivers on acoustic guitar.

Admission is by donation; mask wear is optional.

Working in a Series, a collection of work by eight Clallam and Jefferson county surface design artists, will be on display until March in the Peninsula Fiber Artists’ walk-by Fiber Habit exhibit space at 675 Tyler St. in Port Townsend.

It demonstrates how Sequim, Port Angeles, Port Townsend and Port Ludlow artists each used a specific technique to explore a theme or style in detail with multiple pieces.

For more about the group, see sda.np.com.

An Artist’s Point of View featuring Linda Tilley and Madeline Bryant will open Sunday.

The reception will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bayside Gallery, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Port Hadlock.
