Appointed Jefferson County Clerk Ruth Gordon will formally kick off her campaign for election Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Public House, 1038 Water St., Port Townsend.
Gordon was appointed by county commissioners in January following the retirement of Marianne Walters. By law, an appointed incumbent must be confirmed by a special election.
Before her appointment, Gordon, who will run as a Democrat, worked for 20 years as a professional maintaining confidential records, was an editor and manager for Oxygen Media, and dealt with budgets, programs and staff as a board member of several nonprofit organizations.
