PORT ANGELES — An additional $5,000 is available to groups, clubs and organizations to help fund projects, special events and festivals that will attract overnight visitors to Port Angeles in 2014.
This tourism promotion money comes from Port Angeles hotel-motel-B&B bed taxes.
The money is disbursed by the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors based on recommendations by the chamber’s Special Events Committee. Grants totaling about $65,000 have already been made.
Deadline for submitting an application for a tourism promotion grant is 5 p.m. Monday, March 31.

Only applications emailed by the March 31 deadline will be considered.
“This is part of the contract the chamber has with the city to market the community,” said Veenema. “The grants vary a great deal depending on the size of the event or project and the potential return on investment to the city.”
