Applications accepted now for grants to help businesses

Allocations from American Rescue Plan Act funds

PORT TOWNSEND — EDC Team Jefferson is accepting applications for grants to technical service provider organizations that are helping businesses recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applications will be accepted through Wednesday.

Checks are expected to be issued late April, said Cindy Brooks, director of EDC Team Jefferson, which is administrating the grants. The awarding of the grants will be decided by an independent review board, she said.

The money has been allocated from a $50,000 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) set-aside approved by the Jefferson County commissioners earlier this year.

“When thinking about the best way to support our local business community with some of Jefferson County’s ARPA funding, we decided on a two-pronged approach of direct business support grants and technical assistance to support adaptation to the COVID crisis,” said District 2 County Commissioner, Heidi Eisenhour.

“We feel it’s vital to fill the gaps businesses have found over the past two years and also plan beyond the pandemic for long-term sustainability.”

Grants are intended to provide financial support to local nonprofits or for-profits organizations that provide some form of direct technical assistance to businesses and nonprofits as they recover from the COVID pandemic.

Assistance may include one-on-one consultations, targeted training, financial planning, help accessing capital or fulfill other needs.

Grants will be offered based on the applicant’s description of new or existing support program.

Special consideration will be given to applicants programming that directly supports historically marginalized populations throughout Jefferson County (low-income, women, minority / BIPOC, veteran, tribal).

The online application portal for the Technical Service Provider Grant is open at www.edcteamjefferson.org.
