PORT ANGELES — “Facing the Economic Tsunami” will be the theme of the annual Planning Forum on Ending Homelessness in Clallam County planned Wednesday, June 8.
The forum will be from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the downstairs fellowship hall of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Lopez Ave.
Sandy Burgess of Catholic Housing Services’ housing development division will speak on “Collaboration to Build Capacity.”
Burgess leads the Archdiocese’s redevelopment project in Forks, in partnership with the Peninsula Housing Authority, and is looking ahead to participating in a full assessment of county housing needs for low-income seniors and other vulnerable people.
A Peninsula Housing Authority client will share her personal trek from homelessness to homeownership.
State Rep. Steve Tharinger, D-Sequim, and possibly Sen. Jim Hargrove, D-Hoquiam, are invited to attend.
Both represent the 24th District, which covers Clallam and Jefferson counties and part of Grays Harbor County.
An annual report card on resources available and changes in numbers and circumstances of people who are homeless in Clallam County will be reviewed.
The program will include a light lunch, door prize drawings and an announcement about the inaugural two-county Regional Forum on Ending Homelessness on the North Olympic Peninsula, which is being planned for this fall at the Jamestown S’Klallam facility in Blyn.
