PORT ANGELES — Angeles Composite Technologies Inc. is looking to immediately hire about 10 people to add to its work force of 90, and to add 40 more before this time next year, Mike Rauch, the company’s president, said Monday.
The jobs had been previously announced, but Rauch reiterated the need for a skilled work force at Monday’s Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce meeting.
Angeles Composite’s plans for hiring are a result of increases in demand for two companies — Bombardier Aerospace and Lockheed Martin Corp. — that contract with Port Angeles-based ACTI, which builds composite aircraft parts.
Another contract with Lockheed Martin is in the works, Rauch said, and if that is finalized, it could triple the staff at the company, which now employs 90 people.
The company is filling increases in demand for the Bombardier Aerospace Q-400 airplane and the Lockheed Martin Joint Strike Fighter Program.
Among other customers of the company at 2138 W. 18th St. are Boeing, Lear, Bell Helicopter and the Air Force.
Another very large contract could be on the horizon, Rauch said, but he wasn’t ready to discuss it.
“I have a contract, but I haven’t signed it yet,” he said.
Making an agreement could create a new division to the company and add an additional 150 jobs, he said — but where the new division would be located is still up in the air.
“I’d love to locate it here, but I’m just not ready to talk about that yet,” Rauch said.
The portions of the company now here will remain for the foreseeable future, he added.
The ACTI jobs will be posted at Clallam County WorkSource, Rauch said.
