WE HAVE TALLIED the votes for the winners of our online Mother’s Day Photo and Essay Contest and are pleased to announce our winners!

First place goes to Marilyn Lester of Port Angeles. The essay, “Mom: An Angel in Disguise,” written by her daughter, Deb McLennan, detailed her story of triumph, courage and love in the face of a rare form of cancer.

This incredible Mom will receive $25 gift card to LD’s Woodfire Grill and custom hanging basket from Angel Crest Garden.

Kelly Serrianne of Port Angeles led her mother, Diane Serrianne, to second place with her essay, “Loving, Caring, Inspirational and My Best Friend.”

This mother’s guidance, encouragement and compassion are evident in the essay — and made quite the impression on our voters!

Diane will receive a $25 gift certificate to Shear Elegance provided by First Federal and a lovely lavender gift basket provided by Extendicare — the parent company of Sequim Health and Rehab and Crestwood Health and Rehab.

The helpful efforts of “the best mom and grandma for our family” were lauded in our third place winner’s essay, “Mrs. Glenda Carroll.”

Glenda will receive a $25 slot card at Elwha River Casino!

Congratulations to all! Thanks for all the great submissions! Our thanks to everyone who participated in our contest!
