PORT GAMBLE — A 40-year-old Anacortes man was declared dead at the scene Thursday after an unloaded logging truck driven by a Port Angeles man went out of control and struck the vehicle he was a passenger in.
The collision took place about 12:30 p.m. on state Highway 3 just south of Hood Canal Bridge in Kitsap County, according to a statement from Washington State Patrol.
Lanny M. Strickert of Anacortes was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of a 1999 Saturn, Lena M. Ing, 38, of Bremerton was transported to Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton for leg injuries.
The driver of the logging truck, Patrick M. Spradling, 34, was treated and released for minor injuries.
