QUILCENE — The last train has long since departed Quilcene, but the legacy that steel rails left behind remains to this day.
“All Aboard” is the theme for this year’s Quilcene Heritage Days, taking place today through Sunday.
The event kicks off at 1 p.m. today with the season opening of the Quilcene Museum, located at the intersection of Columbia and Center streets.
A new exhibit this year is a railroad display co-sponsored by the Jefferson County Historical Society.
Quilcene Museum’s hours this weekend are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The museum’s regular spring and summer hours will be from1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Monday.
But Heritage Days is more than just trains.
Entertainment for the three-day event includes a music jam by the Andy Mackie Music Foundation, a book sale, talent show, slide show and Old Time Fiddlers, not to mention food, crafts and ample tales of Quilcene history and lore.
