WASHINGTON, D.C. — Mike Rauch, president and chief executive officer of Angeles Composite Technologies Inc., accepted an award Thursday recognizing the Port Angeles business as one of the top 10 subcontractors in the United States.
The company, located in the industrial park adjacent to William R. Fairchild International Airport, was selected as the Region X subcontractor of the year by the Small Business Administration.
“I want to thank each and every employee and their families for all their dedication and hard work,” Rauch said after accepting the award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
“Without them, this prestigious award would not have been possible,” he said.
As a regional winner, the business was in the running for first place in the nation.
J&P Khamken Industries Inc. of Montgomery, Ala., won the top award.
Rauch said the company was “well-deserving.”
In addition to the awards ceremony, Rauch said he spent much of his time with colleagues from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., shareholders from Koniag Inc. and with Small Business Administration Administrator Karen Mills.
ACTI is now a qualified supplier of composite structure for the F-22 and F-35 programs for Lockheed.
The company was nominated for the honor by Lockheed, for which ACTI is a subcontractor for the Department of Defense.
Rauch also took the time while in Washington, D.C., to visit the White House and the State Department, he said.
The awards are part of National Small Business Week, which recognizes small-business owners for their contributions.
