Five Thistle-class sailboats battle to the leeward mark during the second day of racing in the annual two-day Sequim Bay Thistle Regatta sponsored by the Sequim Bay Yacht Club.
Seventeen teams, including those from Seattle, Tacoma, Portland and Eugene, Ore., competed in the event on Sunday.

The Thistle is a high-performance racing dinghy. It is also a popular day sailor.
The Thistle Class Association, with fleets across the country, holds local, regional and national regattas throughout the year.
Thistles are generally raced with a three-person crew — a skipper, a middle person and a forward person.
