PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles’ 9/11 Remembrance ceremony is set for noon Thursday.
The annual event will be at 9/11 Memorial Waterfront Park, 317 N. Francis St., Port Angeles.
The ceremony will honor the memory of Sept. 11, 2001, and pay respect to the nation’s first responders, public safety and military personnel.
Community members and groups are invited to attend.
The memorial will begin with a flag ceremony, an invocation by Chaplain David Byer from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office followed by two patriotic songs by the Grand Olympics Chorus.
Following introductory remarks, there will be remarks by Byer, Port Angeles Police Chief Brian Smith, Port Angeles Fire Division Chief Tyler Gage and Clallam County Sheriff Brian King.
The speakers will be followed by a moment of silence, the lowering of the flag and a closing bagpipe tribute performed by Rick McKensie.
Following the ceremony, McKensie will pipe at the Port Angeles Fire Department, 102 E Fifth St., for those who wish to attend.
