Readers OF THE PDN’s daily comics page will see a blast from the past starting today when “Classic Doonesbury” brings back installments of the Pulitzer Prize-winning strip from the 1970s.
The strip’s creator, Garry Trudeau, has stepped back from creating new daily installments of the comic to allow him to focus on writing and producing “Alpha House,” an Internet-only political satire show that was part of Amazon.com’s first venture into TV show production.
The show has been picked up for a second season.
Trudeau’s hiatus from daily strips will continue for an undetermined amount of time, though he will continue to produce Sunday “Doonesbury” panels, which will still appear in the PDN’s Sunday Fun section.
Today’s PDN comics can be found on Page B4. Today’s “Classic Doonesbury” is from 1970.
“Alpha House” focuses on four Republican senators who rent a house together on Washington’s Capitol Hill.
One of them is played by veteran actor John Goodman.
