PORT ANGELES — Suzanna “Anna” Reardon has been hired as the new manager of BoBaggins Daycare Inc., which includes BoBaggins Daycare and Learning Center, Banbury Corner Daycare and Preschool, and Bibity Bobity — A Kid’s Place in Port Angeles and Sequim.
Each is licensed by the state and is participating in the Early Achievers program.
Reardon has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, or TESOL.
She has several years of experience teaching in elementary schools in North Carolina, Arizona, New York and Washington.
In addition to elementary schools, she has worked in other childcare facilities, YMCAs and other programs and agencies working with children.
Bank food drive
PORT ANGELES — Nonperishable food items for the Port Angeles Food Bank will be collected by the Port Angeles branch of U.S. Bank, 134 E. Seventh St., beginning Monday and running through Dec. 31.
The bank is planning a big “parking lot drop-off celebration” to collect donations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.
The food bank truck will be there to load donations.

SEATTLE — Village Concepts, a third-generation family-owned business that owns and operates retirement and assisted-living communities throughout the state — including Park View Villas in Port Angeles — is a “Silver Winner” in the 2013 Seattle Business magazine Family Business Awards.
Village Concepts is one of 13 family-owned businesses recognized in seven categories for their sense of responsibility, legacy, dedication and contribution to the local economy, the magazine said.
Selected as a “Silver Winner” for large firms with more than 250 employees, Village Concepts was awarded at an awards gala recently at Bell Harbor International Conference Center in
Seattle.
Village Concepts operates 14 senior living communities throughout Puget Sound, the Olympic Peninsula and Central Washington.

Gold futures for February delivery fell $3.60, or 0.3 percent , to settle at $1,237.90 an ounce Wednesday.
Silver for March delivery lost 21 cents, or 1.1 percent, to $19.68 an ounce.
