ALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS — except one — on the North Olympic Peninsula closed today because of continued frigid weather, off-and-on snow flurries and poor road conditions.
Crescent School in Joyce is OPEN, with a normal schedule and buses running on snow routes. For more information about Crescent schools, phone 360-928-3311.
Port Angeles school officials had planned a late start today but then decided to call off school at about 8 a.m.
Many events in both Jefferson and Clallam counties scheduled for today and tonight are also canceled — check by phone first before leaving your home or office.
With the exception of Crescent, other public and private schools across Clallam and Jefferson counties (including sports practices and extracurricular events) are closed today. A rundown:
CLOSED — Peninsula College’s three campuses in Port Angeles, Port Townsend and Forks. Peninsula College Educare and Early Head Start are also closed.
CLOSED — Schools in Port Angeles, Sequim, Port Townsend, Chimacum, Brinnon, Cape Flattery, Quilcene and Quillayute Valley (Forks).
CLOSED — Queen of Angels school in Port Angeles. Also closed in the Port Angeles area: Children’s Montessori and Little Sprouts Christian Preschool.
All schools will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. Schools are scheduled to reopen on Monday.
ALSO CLOSED in the Port Angeles area: “Encore” at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church; Lower Elwha Child Care; First Step Family Support Center and Three Bears Educare.

JEFFERSON COUNTY CLOSURES:
1. Port Townsend pool, closed until Friday. Phone 360-85-7665 for updates.
2. Jefferson County Historical Society Research Center, 13562 Airport Cutoff Road, closed until Friday.
3. Port Townsend’s Key City Public Theatre’s performance of “Intimate Exchanges: Vol. 1,” which was canceled Tuesday, has been rescheduled to Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Key City Playhouse. Click on keycitypublictheatre.org for any updates.
Public bus service
Clallam and Jefferson Transit buses are using chains and are on their mostly normal schedules, with some deviations.

Clallam Transit said all its routes would be on regular schedules except for the in-town Port Angeles routes No. 20 College/Plaza, No. 22 Lincoln/Peabody, No. 24 Cherry Hill and No. 26 Westside, which will continue on a “once an hour basis” today.
Transit service on the in-town Port Angeles routes will run at 55 minutes after each hour until noon today.
The schedule will then switch to five minute after each hour with the last runs leaving the Gateway Transit Center in downtown Port Angeles at 7:05 p.m.
Due to unstable road conditions, Clallam Transit Route No. 52 Diamond Point will not run down the final hill to the beach at Diamond Point.
The No. 10 Joyce bus will terminate its run at the Highway 112 and Lyre River Park intersection west of Joyce.
Clallam Paratransit is operating for eligible disabled persons, eligible seniors and eligible Medicaid clients but may limit curb-to-curb service depending on the road and weather conditions.
Dial-A-Ride in rural Sequim is operating normally.
