PORT ANGELES — Three Port Angeles residents were injured Sunday morning when a truck and a car collided on U.S. Highway 101 near Lake Sutherland.
According to a State Patrol report, Ryan V. Wetterlund, 29, of Port Angeles was driving a white 2004 Ford Ranger westbound on Highway 101 at about 11:45 a.m. with passenger Joy L. Wetterlund, 29, also of Port Angeles.
Ryan Wetterlund attempted to make a left turn onto Thompson Point Road near Lake Sutherland, 13 miles west of Port Angeles.
Scott Lee Penson, 55, was driving a blue 2008 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on Highway 101 at Thompson Point Road.
The Chevrolet Malibu collided with the Ford Ranger in the eastbound lane.
Both Wetterlunds and Penson were injured in the wreck and taken to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.
Joy Wetterlund was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for “a higher level of treatment,” said an OMC spokeswoman.
Her condition was not immediately available from Harborview.
The spokeswoman said that Ryan Wetterlund was in stable condition in the emergency room Sunday afternoon.
Penson was treated and released, she said.
Both vehicles received reportable damage and were impounded by Peninsula Tow.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected as contributing to the wreck, according to the report.
Ryan Wetterlund will be cited for “failure to yield.”
