3 arrested on drug charges after raid

PORT TOWNSEND — Officials confirmed Monday that three men have been arrested on drug charges after a home raid last weekend that uncovered drugs, guns and money.

Mark E. Ohl, 35, Ronald R. Hawk, 64, and David C. Roberts, 38, were arrested Friday on investigation of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, according to Port Townsend Police Sgt. Ed Green.

Green said Ohl, who is a convicted felon, was also arrested on investigation of illegal possession of firearms.

According to the Jefferson County Jail roster, Ohl is being held on $20,000 bond and Roberts is being held on $5,000 bond. Hawk was not listed on the jail roster Monday night.

The arrests took place Friday night as Port Townsend and Bainbridge Island Police raided a home at 2016 Summit Way, Port Townsend.

Green said an unknown amount of heroin and cocaine was seized.

He was unsure of the amount of drugs, guns and money taken.

The Bainbridge Island Police Department, which is in charge of the investigation, has remained tight-lipped about the incident, declining to release information on how many individuals have been arrested, the amount of drugs seized, the specifics of how the three individuals were discovered to be distributing drugs or how many more individuals may be involved.

“Right now, we are not releasing a lot of details as it’s an ongoing investigation,” said Bainbridge Island Police Lt. Susan Shultz.

“We served a drug warrant [in Jefferson County] because of information we had gathered from our investigation in Kitsap County.”

Shultz was unwilling to release information relating to the time line on the investigation, saying only, “It has been going on for quite a while.”

Shultz did not say if her department is still active in Jefferson County but did say it was working with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Jefferson County Sheriff Tony Hernandez confirmed that his department was helping but had no additional information.

“We are assisting them in the investigation,” Hernandez said.

“It is being handled by [Bainbridge Island], but our members of OPNET are helping.”

The Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team is a multi-jurisdictional organization that fights drug trafficking in Clallam and Jefferson counties.

On Friday, six Bainbridge Island Police officers drove around the Hood Canal to serve the warrant, according to Green.

He said Port Townsend Police involvement has been minimal, but it did assist with the raid and arrests.

Green said when police entered the home Friday night, they quickly arrested Ohl and Hawk, who were at the residence. Roberts was arrested later when he showed up at the residence while police were still at the location.

Green said Ohl was a Port Townsend resident who was living at the Summit Way home. He did not know where Hawk or Roberts were living.
