SHINE — Traffic has started to flow across the Hood Canal Bridge following an injury traffic collision on state Highway 104 just west of the floating bridge.
At least one person was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle this afternoon after the two-car wreck at the intersection of Highway 104 and Paradise Bay Road, according to the State Patrol.
The wreck involved the extrication of passengers and there are severe injuries, said Trooper Russ Winger, State Patrol spokesman.
Information on how many other people were involved in the wreck and what caused it was not immediately available.
Eastbound lanes were closed at the Hood Canal Bridge at about 4:50 p.m., and a state Department of Transportation webcam showed severe traffic backups on Highway 104.
“It will remain like this for at least the next 90 minutes to two hours,” Winger said in the 5 o’clock hour.
