PORT LUDLOW — An 88-year-old Bainbridge Island man died in a two-vehicle crash on state Highway 104 this afternoon, the State Patrol said.
Robert Frank Dawson, a passenger in a Dodge Dakota pickup, was killed when another car hit the passenger side of the pickup at 2:15 p.m. today.
Three others were hospitalized after the collision at milepost 7.9.
Charles Ellis Russell, 73, of Nordland and Brett Frank Dawson, 54, of Silverdale were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. No information on their conditions was available tonight.
Pamela Jonell Thresher, 53, of Suquamish, was taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton where she was listed in stable condition this evening.
Russell, driving a Honda Pilot westbound on Highway 104 without passengers, crossed the center line into the eastbound lane and lost control, the State Patrol said.
His car struck the pickup driven by Thresher and containing two passengers on the center post on the passenger side.
The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
No drugs or alcohol were involved, the State Patrol said, and all those involved in the wreck were wearing seat belts.
The highway was completely blocked between Center Road and state Highway 19 until about 4:10 p.m., when traffic was permitted to pass in alternating lanes.
Both lanes were reopened at 7:15 p.m.
Both vehicles were completely destroyed, the State Patrol said.
