2nd UPDATE — Man found dead on Hollywood Beach identified

PORT ANGELES — Police have identified a man found dead Friday morning of a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound on Hollywood Beach.

The man was Armando Pierre Gloria, 38, of Port Angeles.

A group of middle school students visiting the area spotted the body at about 11 a.m. on the east side of Hollywood Beach just north of the Red Lion Hotel.

Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith said the man died of a single shot to the chest.

A shotgun was found nearby.

Police suspect he shot himself.

“We have no other information that suggests another cause,” Smith said Saturday.

“However, the final determination on cause and origin will be when the entire investigation is completed.”

Police closed a section of the Waterfront Trail for about four hours while they investigated.
