SEQUIM – The Clallam County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a string of 23 mailbox smashings on the outskirts of Sequim.
The mailboxes appear to have been hit with baseball bats or similar objects, Sgt. Brian King said.
“There doesn’t seem to be any connection to the people who are doing this,” King said.
He also said the vandalism is spread out geographically so whoever is hitting the mailboxes probably has a car.
“They are so spread out that suggesting they would be on a bike would be a stretch,” King said.
“They appear to be mobile.”
All 23 of the smashings have occurred since Oct. 1.
“From the time frame and the way they have occurred, we are working under the assumption that they are mostly related,” King said.
