2 Mexican nationals arrested by Border Patrol near Clallam Bay this month

BLAINE — The Border Patrol arrested two Mexican citizens near Clallam Bay earlier this month, the federal agency reported this week.

The two were arrested Sept. 6, the Border Patrol said in a report issued Tuesday.

“Both subjects were illegally present in the United States and processed for removal,” the report said.

The information on Border Patrol arrests in Clallam and Jefferson counties was included in a report on arrests and seizures within the Blaine Sector, which includes the North Olympic Peninsula.

Blaine Sector spokesman Richard Sinks, who prepares the weekly report, said Tuesday the report is abbreviated to keep it to one page.

“Depending on what I feel the public might want to know, that information is put out,” he said.

The reports also are intentionally kept to one page regardless of how many arrests are made by Border Patrol agents, Sinks said.

“When we put out a news release, we keep it to one page. That’s just the way we were taught, we were trained.”

Also Sept. 6, agents took custody of a Mexican citizen from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Work Center near Bellingham.

The Border Patrol said the person had multiple arrests for investigation of driving under intoxication, including one involving a hit-and-run, and had previously been ordered to be deported.

The person was processed for reinstatement of a prior deportation order.

A citizen of Canada was arrested Sept. 8, admitted to entering the United States illegally and was processed for removal, the report said.

A Mexican national illegally in the U.S. was turned over to the Lynden Police Department on a misdemeanor warrant, with an immigration hold, after Board Patrol agents assisted the department in taking the person into custody after running from a vehicle stop.

A New Zealand citizen whose visa had expired was arrested Sept. 12, after agents assisted the Blaine Police Department. The person is to be deported.
