FORKS — Sixteen handguns were stolen from the Forks True Value Lumber and Hardware store during a break-in early Tuesday morning.
Two agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives based in Seattle will be working with local law enforcement, Forks Police Chief Mike Powell said.
There are no suspects at this time, Powell said, but 19-year-old Brandon L. Penn has been named as a “person of interest” in the case.
Penn has not been located by police, Powell said. He has urged those with information about the guns or the break-in to contact the Forks Police Department.
The break-in occurred between 3 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Powell said he did not know where the guns may be headed, but hopes community members will provide investigators with information.
“With a small community like Forks, people are going to hear about it,” Powell said.
$3,000 worth of guns
Store owner Bob Stark said the guns value about $3,000 and ranged from .22-caliber pistols up to 9mm handguns.
Also stolen were a number of knives, Stark said.
