BEAVER — A Florida company’s purchase of a fallow timber mill site for $1 million became official Friday.
The deed transferring the 45-acre former Interfor USA Inc. parcel at 200673 U.S. Highway 101 from LPS Real Estate and Development Co. to Sustainable Green Team timber products company was recorded Friday in the Clallam County Auditor’s Office, a spokesperson said.
The property was listed for $1.1 million by the Northwest Multiple Listing Service.
It was sold in 2015 by Interfor USA Inc. to LPS, owned by Chuck Lepinski, owner of a Tennessee-based sawmill, pallet and wood industry equipment dealer.
Interfor, which owns a mill west of Port Angeles, put in the deed the restriction that the property could not be used as a sawmill or for other lumber production activity for 10 years, the spokesperson said.
When LPS sold it to Sustainable Green Team, the restriction was lifted, the spokesperson said.
Sustainable Green Team will produce dimensional and specialty lumber products and byproduct mulch products, company owner Tony Raynor told Peninsula Daily News Thursday.
The plant will be up and running within 24 months, he predicted.
The company also is negotiating with the City of Forks to lease 25 acres of the 80-acre city industrial park at 413 Sitkum-Sol Duc Road leased by Interfor.
That site will take about a year to become operational, Raynor said.
It will produce mass timber, a lightweight wood product engineered for high strength. It will produce cross-laminated timber and glu-lam products.
