“We make sure to provide financial education first because we want new citizens to succeed. We don’t want them to think, ‘Oh, it’s just $500 and they don’t have to pay it back,’” Kolbas says.

“I believe that understanding the reasons behind their concerns and offering empathy has fostered trust with our clients. Once they trust us, their fears dissipate.”
Kolbas’s personal connection to this service runs deep.
“Coming from a mother who is an immigrant, it means everything to me because these are people at the end of the day. They’re human, they’re hard-working folks, and if we can be a helping hand in that aspect for them, it makes our job even that much more fulfilling.”
