SEQUIM — In the midst of an ordinary Tuesday, a young orchestra will offer extraordinary music: Dvorak’s American Quartet, an arrangement of “Funiculi, Funicula,” the Rondeau and Chaconne from Purcell and an Elgar serenade.
It’s another “Music Live with Lunch,” the monthly noontime concert at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, this time showcasing the Port Angeles High School Chamber Orchestra.
So the youthful energy and classical music will start at noon in the church at 525 N. Fifth Ave.
After the 30-minute concert, lunch will be served in the parish hall.
A $10 ticket covers music and meal, and reservations can be made by phoning the church at 360-683-4862.
The Port Angeles High School Chamber Orchestra is an accomplished group, having won many local and national competitions, performed at Carnegie Hall and accompanied renowned fiddler Mark O’Connor as well as Anthony Kearns of the Irish Tenors.
The conductor, Ron Jones, director of orchestras at Port Angeles High since 1975, is a member of the Washington Music Educators Association Hall of Fame.
A portion of proceeds from Tuesday’s concert will be donated to a local charity, said organizer Carolyn Braun.
