Workshops scheduled at Fort Worden on Sunday

PORT TOWNSEND — AmeriCorps service members Anna Marchand and Nate Rees will present two free workshops at Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way, on Sunday.

Rees will discuss the nesting habits of bald eagles from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Participants will be able to build a nest while learning how bald eagles raise their families.

For more information or to register for Rees’ presentation, email nathan.rees@parks.wa.gov.

Marchand will discuss the natural history of the park and the basics of illustration from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The presentation is appropriate for all ages and skill levels.

For more information or to register for the workshop, email Marchand at anna.marchand@parks.wa.gov.

These are the last workshops that Marchand and Rees will lead at Fort Worden as their year of service at the park ends this month.

Rees plans to move to Colorado Springs, Colo., after his year with AmeriCorps is over.

Marchand will move to Port Angeles in August to begin another AmeriCorps position with the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary.

She plans to enroll in the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 2022.
