Winterfest to raise funds for winter sports education

PORT ANGELES — Winterfest, an annual fundraiser to support winter sports education at Hurricane Ridge, will offer food and films Saturday.

The evening of dinner, auctions and short films featuring local skiers and snowboarders at Hurricane Ridge will be at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. with the event beginning at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $65 in advance and $80 at the door. Community tables for eight are $500. Individual and community table tickets can be purchased online at www.hurricaneridge.com.

Attendees will be served a prime rib dinner prepared by Kokopelli Grill and Coyote BBQ Pub and appetizers by Country Aire Natural Foods.

Live and silent auctions will offer items ranging from hard and soft goods to beer tastings, staycations and vacations.

Live music is planned by Bill, Rudy and Rachael.

Films shows will be the top films of VideOlympics, an area film festival.

They are:

• “Long Stories Short” by Ethan Strahan, 2012.

• “Shred the Ridge” by Evan Applegate, Ryan Tucker, and Ted and Jack McColl, 2012.

• “VideOlympics 2014” by the Z boys, 2014.

Contributions are tax deductible and proceeds will support capital improvements to the ski area, as well as scholarships to underprivileged children in the community who would like to learn how to ski, snowboard or participate on ski team.
