WEEKEND: Scale-model show Saturday at Worden

PORT TOWNSEND — The North Olympic Peninsula Modelers Society will hold its seventh annual scale-model show and contest at Building 204 at Fort Worden State Park from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for juniors 17 and younger.

Model entry fees are $5 for any number of adult entries and $1 for any number of junior entries.

Close relationship

The club selected this venue because of a close working relationship with the Coastal Artillery Museum, located in the park, members said.

The interests of the museum and the modelers society have coincided for several years, with the museum providing historical information and support for club members to build detailed and accurate scale models of historic subjects.

The modelers society, in return, has supported the scale gun battery models at the museum and has provided scale models to represent historic points of information within the museum.

During the contest, the Coastal Artillery Museum will admit visitors who attend the model show and contest for half the normal admission fee.

A Discover Pass is not required for this event.

The modelers society is a local chapter of the International Plastic Modelers Society.

The club meets the first and third Thursdays in Port Hadlock.
