DUNGENESS — The Christmas Tea & Bake Sale weekend at the Dungeness Schoolhouse has much more than tea and cookies this year.
The parties, held from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, are free gatherings where everyone is invited to enjoy hot tea in fine china cups along with treats from local bakers’ ovens.
The 120-year-old Dungeness Schoolhouse at 2781 Towne Road will, of course, be fully decked in holiday finery.
And for those who would like to make some holiday decorations of their own, local artist and teacher Frances Rice will offer a workshop, also from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. both days, in the schoolhouse’s downstairs classroom.
Authors
In addition, participants can talk with nearly a dozen local writers and photographers, and have them sign copies of their books.
These authors include:
■ Ross Hamilton, photographer of The Olympics: A Wilderness Trilogy and creator of a 2013 wall calendar celebrating the Olympic Peninsula.
■ Russ Fish, who will have copies of his late mother Harriet Fish’s book, Fish Tales.
■ Alice Alexander, author of Lake Crescent: Gem of the Olympics.
■ Terry Buchanan, writer of The History of Fort Casey.
■ Glynda Schaad, author of Women to Reckon With.
■ Irene Wyman, author of Clallam County Schools East to West.
■ Doug McInnes, author of Sequim Yesterday: Local History Through the Eyes of Sequim Old-Timers.
■ Judy McInnes Tozzer, writer of Sequim Pioneer Histories.
■ Iris Edey of Still Shakin’ with Laughter.
To provide a soundtrack, local musicians, from the Eden Valley Strummers ukulele group to harp-guitar duo Lorrie and Benton Parris, will play on the schoolhouse stage both days.
Held at the schoolhouse each December since 1969, the Christmas Tea & Bake Sale is presented by the Museum & Arts Center’s Dungeness Schoolhouse Volunteer Committee.
