SEQUIM — The Blue Whole Gallery unveils today its annual Holiday Special, a showcase of locally made gifts.
Twenty Blue Whole member artists are contributing some 75 pieces, most of which are priced at $100 or less.
In the display, which runs down the center of the gallery, shoppers can browse among Carol Janda’s ceramics and jewelry, Nancy Lawrence’s animal sculptures, Liz Harper’s fused-glass jewelry, Karin Anderson’s miniature mixed-media paintings, seasonal cards and ornaments, Carl Baker’s wooden wine stoppers and Steve Wry’s ceramic boxes.
Also beckoning are small paintings by Mary Franchini, Deb Sterk, Susan Spar and Ryoko Toyama, framed prints by Reggie Consani and George Zien, assemblage art and copper sculptures by Bud Bowling and wearable art by the Blue Whole’s three jewelry makers, Janine Hegy, Brian Buntain and Ed Crumley.
“New items will be added through the month, right up until Christmas,” promised organizer Karin Anderson.
“This year,” she added, “we have something very special — a drawing to win Carol Janda’s original watercolor painting ‘Winter Kale.’”
The holiday market will stay open through Dec. 31 at Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sundays.
Reception in December
A reception with participating artists, refreshments and music by Laurie Parris is coming up Friday, Dec. 7, during Sequim’s First Friday Art Walk from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
But Anderson urged shoppers to come this weekend for a first look at the show.
“Art makes a great gift for your relatives, friends and for yourself,” she added.
