SEQUIM — City officials presented the sixth annual Westcott Award to Deborah Weaver for her 2018 contributions as a Volunteer in Police Service.
The award was presented Wednesday at the City Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.
“Deb has a delightful sense of humor and goes above-and-beyond in her support of officers and the public,” said Tiffany Banning, executive assistant to the police chief. “She’s a true patriot and promoter of Sequim.”
Weaver joined the program in 2016 and in 2018 volunteered 418 hours with the police department.
Her work included signing up new members of the Project Lifesaver program and conducting monthly battery checks; event assistance at the Irrigation Festival, Lavender Weekend and Boys & Girls Clubs fundraiser; signing up new businesses and providing support for the Business Watch program; and offering front desk assistance at the police department.
The Westcott Award was named for Emily Westcott in recognition of her commitment to volunteer service within the community.
Westcott received the first award in 2014.
