BLYN — If you’ve been biding your time, waiting for the chance to rub elbows with Pat Sajak and possibly win a brand new car, your time has come.
The Wheelmobile, the “Wheel of Fortune” Winnebago that tours the country looking for contestants for “television’s No. 1 game show,” will holding a two-day tryout at 7 Cedars Casino at 270756 Highway 101 on July 29 and 30 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
On each day, three one-hour versions of the show will be staged, with possible future TV contestants participating.
Shows will begin at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. There is no need to arrive hours in advance of the event, Wheelmobile officials say.
Sajak and his famous hostess, Vanna White, won’t be there, but traveling stand-ins for Sajak and White will conduct the games.
Lots of people
Jimm Brown, director of community relations for KOMO-TV in Seattle — which carries the syndicated game show Mondays through Saturdays at 7 p.m. — said he attended a tryout for the show at a casino in Bow a few years ago.
When asked about the number of people who turned out, Brown paused and laughed.
“I got there early, and there was no place to park. I thought that a little strange, because it’s in Bow,” Brown said.
As it turned out, the line stretched as far as he could see, and then some.
“They ask for parking and facilities for 5,000,” Brown said.
“Just in case.”
He estimated that 3,000 hopefuls may make the trip to Blyn.
Contestants must be at least 18 years and cannot be employees of the station, the show or its advertisers.
