Vote for best art piece of ‘All That Jazz’ in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — It’s time to vote for your favorite piece of “All That Jazz,” the July exhibition on the ground floor of The Landing mall at 115 E. Railroad Ave.

This show, composed of 33 original works, celebrates jazz music through visual art and includes painted riffs by local artists such as Jeff Tocher, Nita Foraker, Peggy Wesley and others.

It’s on display in the mall’s atrium, adjacent to the Landings Art Gallery.

While the judge’s choice and best in show award winners have been named, public voting for the people’s choice ribbon will continue until July 25.

Tocher’s portrait of Miles Davis, simply titled “Jazz,” received the judge’s choice award from juror Richard Stephens last Friday. Ironically, Tocher painted the trumpeter’s image just one hour before the deadline to be in the show.

First-, second- and third-place ribbons went to Wesley’s oil painting “Flying High,” Hideko Goecker’s collage “Dancing to Music” and Foraker’s fused glass piece “Cooking with Jazz,” respectively.

Stephens bestowed the best in show honor on Alexandra Colman’s acrylic “Jazz Interpretation 1.”

For more details about “All That Jazz,” phone the Landings Art Gallery at 360-452-2604.
